The Democrat rat race as it now stands: the Biden sag takes hold

An interesting thing is happening on old Joe’s ride to his coronation ball. His gilded carriage is fading badly, and its wheels are starting to hit huge ruts on the backroads of Iowa.

As it now stands, old Joe has dropped below thirty percent (30%) in the Iowa polls and that tenacious little apostle of the Democrat left, Senator Elizabeth Warren is only a mere three (3) points behind him.

Worse still for old Joe, among those Democrats polled who say they are most likely to vote, Warren has pulled ahead of the tired ex-Senator, ex-Vice-President and , generally speaking, reconstituted has been. Compounding his predicament, this darling of the Democrat far left is out-polling the old and tired hack  by more than ten (10) points among Democrat activists. We all know the significance of these “a activists,” scurrying about, as they do in their Volvos and Saabs, martinets all.

Warren now has a clear path to the Democrat nomination, and it comes down to two things: Iowa and New Hampshire.

Should she win Iowa, Joe is done. Should she come close he must crawl upon, not an easy task for this aged hack. Then comes New Hampshire, where Warren has great name recognition as Senator from neighbouring Massachusetts.

Doing well and certainly winning these two States, the first two contest in the land, will give her new lustre and a sense of inevitability. All of a sudden, the narrative changes from the inevitability of Biden to “ can Warren be stopped” and ‘Biden, having failed, who can stop Warren?” Biden’s demise, in such a scenario, which is very plausible, will come that quickly.

The situation right now is so predictable. Only  four candidates will be considered as possible winners in these first two States: Biden, Sanders, Harris and Warren.

Sanders has absolutely no pathway to the Democrat nomination. Everyone, including him, knows this fact. He simply cannot, however, get out because he likes the lights and, most especially, the fund-raising.

So, the race comes down to the remaining three.

Harris has stalled badly after riding her pro-busing and free health care for all illegals wave.

Warren, by contrast, has built a strong ground game in Iowa and New Hampshire. Despise her loony policies , among what is now the Democrat party: liberal activists, social – justice warriors and the others occupying that motley assortment who feed off identity politics and self-serving fake realities, she does well.

Her organization knows that for her to have any chance to be the nominee, she must hit hard and well in Iowa and New Hampshire. A blitzkrieg campaign in these two States will give her the momentum to go into later  caucus and primary States with wind in her sails, enormous media attention and, most significant, bags of new cash donations.

“It’s the cash stupid,” is the Democrat message in what has become the party of plutocrats and the corporate-government class. Bernie Sanders, his rhetoric aside, used his camping money from last time like a treasure chest. It’s the basis of his effort this time around, as any objective observer knows.

Soon the crowded field will dry up as the money becomes more concentrated.  Just as the Clintons used foreign money sources to finance their efforts, the Democrats who remain standing will be grabbing all the cash they can get their hands on so long as the campaign wheel keeps spinning.

Great performances in Iowa and New Hampshire will make the shrill Senator Warren either or both the Democrat nominee and another wealth by stealth Democrat political hypocrite.
